NEET Re-Exam 2026: Nationwide Mock Drill Aims to Restore Trust

To test the preparedness of the examination centres at various locations in the country, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted a Mock Test on 29 June 2026, the day prior to the re-examination of NEET-UG 2026. The exercise was designed to make certain that the re-exam is run smoothly, transparently and securely after the earlier exam was cancelled. The mock drill included district administration, police force, centre superintendents and NTA officials to test all the aspects of the examination process, ranging from the safe transportation of question papers to verification of candidates and emergency response measures. A total of over 22.79 lakh candidates are to be expected in 551 cities in India and in 14 foreign countries for the re-examination.

In order to enhance security, more than 2 lakh personnel, such as police officers and district administration officers, have been deployed by the NTA. Transportation of the examination materials is being conducted in Police escorted vehicles with GPS facilities, and Examination Centres have been made CCTV surveillance equipped, as well as provided with centralized monitoring and high sensitivity metal detectors and biometric verification to prevent impersonation. The agency has also asked intensified monitoring of social media by candidates and urged them to avoid any rumours about paper leakage or fake answer key. Complaints about misinformation have been handed over to cybercrime agencies to take severe action.

The NTA has recommended candidates to arrive at their centres on time before the reporting time, bring a printed copy of the admit card and valid photo identification and abide by the dress code. In case of any technical problem, candidate who experience biometric verification issue will be permitted to appear after manual verification. The national scenario mock drill is being conducted by the government in order to gain the confidence of the general public in one of the most significant entrance examinations in the country so that the entire exam process is conducted fairly, transparent and efficient for all the candidates.
