CJP Protest at Jantar Mantar Enters Fifth Day: Farmers Join as Movement Gains Momentum

The protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi has now entered its fifth day, making it one of the most visible youth protests of the last few months. The protest, led by the founder of CJP Abhijeet Dipke, is focused on the alleged paper leaks in NEET-UG 2026 exams, the history of past leaks, and the need for systemic changes in the education and job selection systems in India. Protestors have demanded that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resign, an independent investigation into the irregularities in the exams, and compensation for the families of students who allegedly committed suicide in the wake of the exam controversy. They also want extensive changes to bring transparency and accountability in competitive examinations.

The cry has escalated and got backing from students, parents, social activists and farmer associations of Punjab who are in solidarity with the youth movement. Abhijeet Dipke had already asked the farmers of Punjab to join the struggle saying that students movements and farmers movements are always been running side by side in the struggle for justice. Farmer groups expanding the protest beyond education issues, hence adding a wider social and political relevance.

In order to maintain the momentum of the movement, protesters have held symbolic actions such as a ‘diaper protest’, thali demonstrations, candlelight vigils and cultural events. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has also shown support to the agitation. This is with reference to the next phase of the CJP movement which is a proper indefinite hunger strike, which is due to commence on 27th June, if the demands of the CJP are not met. Delhi Police are still keeping security check at Jantar Mantar as the protest is peacefully conducted. The government's response, be it a dialogue with the protesters or if the agitation spreads out to a national campaign, will become a key determinant of its future trajectory.
