Election Commission Announces Bypolls in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat: What It Means for India's Political Landscape

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced Assembly bypolls for one constituency each in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat, with voting scheduled for 30 July 2026 and the counting of votes on 3 August 2026. The bypolls have been necessitated by vacancies arising due to the resignation, death, or disqualification of sitting legislators. Although only three seats are at stake, the elections are expected to attract national attention as they will serve as an important political test for both the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition INDIA bloc ahead of future state elections.
