Delhi Metro Under Security Clampdown: 18 Stations Shut as CJP Protest Continues

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the closure of 18 metro stations across central Delhi from 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, amid heightened security arrangements linked to the ongoing CJP protest near Jantar Mantar. The stations will remain closed to passenger entry and exit until further instructions.

The affected stations include major transport hubs such as New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, Jhandewalan and Lok Kalyan Marg.

Despite the closures, interchange facilities will continue at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat, allowing passengers to change lines even though regular station entry and exit services remain restricted.

The decision has created significant inconvenience for daily commuters, office workers, students and travellers, particularly those using New Delhi and other central Delhi stations. Passengers have been advised to check the latest DMRC updates and plan alternative routes before travelling.

The latest shutdown marks the fourth consecutive day of metro restrictions in the capital as security remains tight around the protest site. The situation highlights the wider impact that prolonged political and student protests can have on public transport and everyday life in a major city.
