Lok Sabha Passes Public Examinations Amendment Bill, 2026 to Combat Paper Leaks

The amended law provides for stricter punishments for those involved in organised examination fraud. In serious cases, offenders can face up to 10 years of imprisonment and fines of up to ₹10 crore. The Bill also empowers authorities to seize the property of convicted offenders, making it harder for organised cheating networks to profit from illegal activities.

Another important feature of the legislation is its focus on faster investigations and speedy trials. By ensuring quicker legal action against offenders, the government aims to create a strong deterrent against future paper leaks. The Bill also broadens accountability by allowing action against individuals, organised gangs, institutions, and those using technology to facilitate examination fraud.
