Jharkhand JPSC Protest: Why Students Are on the Streets and What They Want

The Jharkhand JPSC protest has grown into one of the state's largest student movements, with thousands of aspirants gathering in Ranchi to demand transparency in government recruitment. The agitation began after the JPSC 14th Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination results were declared on 2 July 2026, when candidates alleged serious irregularities in the examination and selection process. The protests intensified in late July and have now entered an indefinite phase, with many students holding a peaceful Satyagraha near Jaipal Singh Stadium.

The protesters claim that the recruitment process lacked transparency and fairness. They have raised concerns over alleged irregularities in both JPSC and JSSC examinations, arguing that repeated controversies have eroded the credibility of recruitment in Jharkhand.

The students' major demands include:

The movement has also drawn political attention, with opposition parties demanding an independent investigation. Protesters have vowed to continue their peaceful agitation until concrete action is taken, making the issue one of the most significant governance and youth employment challenges currently facing Jharkhand.
