PM Modi Launches 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan' to Build a Drug-Free India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2 August 2026 launched the nationwide "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan", a major campaign aimed at protecting India's youth from drug abuse and encouraging them to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The campaign was launched from Varanasi and seeks to transform the fight against substance abuse into a nationwide people's movement.

Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister said that the youth are the driving force behind a developed India and urged them to remain physically and mentally fit. He warned that drug addiction destroys families, careers, and society, and also claimed that hostile forces use the drug trade as a tool to weaken the country's future. He called upon parents, teachers, educational institutions, and communities to work together to eradicate the menace of drugs.

The campaign has already witnessed massive participation, with over one crore young people taking the "Nasha Mukti" pledge. Organised through MY Bharat and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the initiative includes awareness drives, youth engagement programmes, campus activities, competitions, and community outreach across schools, colleges, and universities. The month-long programme is designed to inspire young citizens to become ambassadors of a healthy and drug-free India.

The "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan" reflects the government's commitment to safeguarding the nation's youth while advancing the goal of a developed India by 2047. By combining public participation with awareness and education, the campaign aims to create a healthier, more responsible, and empowered generation capable of leading India's future.
