52 viewsDelhi is preparing to introduce a dedicated “Pink Force” of trained women police personnel to strengthen safety in public spaces. The initiative was directed by Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu during a review meeting with senior Delhi Police officers on September 22, 2026.
The proposed force will focus on schools, colleges, metro stations, markets, transport hubs and other vulnerable locations. The objective is to increase visible police presence and enable quicker responses, particularly during hours when public spaces may be more vulnerable.
Alongside the Pink Force, Delhi Police has been directed to increase foot and motorcycle patrolling in high-footfall and crime-prone areas. Police have also been asked to continue action against harassment and eve-teasing under Operation Shishtachar.
The plan also includes regular school awareness programmes covering POCSO, child safety, cybercrime, substance abuse and road safety. Each police district will reportedly have a nodal officer and a quarterly outreach calendar.
However, the Pink Force is currently a planned initiative; its final strength, launch date and detailed deployment schedule have not yet been announced.
The initiative puts greater focus on visible policing and faster assistance, while its impact will depend on how effectively it is implemented across Delhi.
