The decline came amid several global factors, including concerns over higher inflation, elevated oil prices and expectations of further US interest-rate increases. International gold prices also weakened, with spot gold falling to around $4,125 an ounce, according to Hindustan Times.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold had settled at ₹1,46,804 per 10 grams on September 28, after a sharp fall during the session.
However, gold prices can vary depending on the city, dealer premium, purity and whether the quoted price includes taxes or jewellery-making charges. An India-wide bullion benchmark put 24K gold at ₹1,48,928 per 10 grams on September 29, illustrating the difference between reference and retail rates.
In short: Gold remains volatile, with global interest-rate expectations and inflation concerns influencing prices closely.
